PHASE CHANGING MATERIALS (PCM)

Phase Change Materials (PCMs) store and release thermal energy during the process of melting & freezing (changing from one phase to another). When such a material freezes, it releases large amounts of energy in the form of latent heat. Conversely, when the material is melted, an equal amount of energy is absorbed from the immediate environment as it changes from solid to liquid. PCMs are also very useful in providing thermal barriers or insulation, for example in temperature controlled transport. Heat or cold entering the transport container are absorbed by the PCM during the phase transition from solid to liquid and vice versa. This ensures a temperature stability for over 120 hours.

In general, the innovative PCM technology allows one configuration for the packaging for all seasons and climates with the PCM temperature range requested.
